I don’t know about you, but I feel like I constantly need to improve. And that’s because I always feel I’m not good enough.
This idea, that I am not good enough, has been built over the course of many years. It is something that has seeped deep into my psyche and then shows through my actions.
That’s also what I project out there. I project that I am not good enough and need to improve. Therefore I am always working towards something I’m not good at and so I’m constantly showing how not so good I am!
When you’re not good at something…you will look a little nervous and uncertain. There is confidence in my movements when I know what I am doing. Play tennis with me and you will see a confident me take charge even in difficult moments.
But…make me do something new? I am trying to figure out how exactly to go about doing it. In that moment, if you saw me, you’d be like this guy is floundering!
But here’s the thing…I do have strengths! Those strengths show up when I need them, but what if I lead from my strengths instead of my weaknesses?
Perhaps my strengths can help me see that I am already quite good and that now I can channel that confident me to work on my weaknesses.
If you’re good at research, then anytime you are tasked with learning something new, or a task that might take up too much of your time, you can lead with your research skills!
My hope is that it will help me show up in places I’m not so confident with…confidence!
I hope you think about how you can lead with your strengths.
You got this!
